Nha Trang With Kids: Where To Stay, Eat & Best Things To Do
Welcome to our family-friendly travel guide to Nha Trang and Cam Ranh in Vietnam! We’ve pulled together our favourite family activities, places to stay, practical travel tips and things parents probably won’t realise until they visit themselves.
Nha Trang surprised us because it feels completely different to places like Hoi An or Hanoi. It’s more modern, more resort-focused, and honestly feels like Vietnam’s beach holiday destination. You’ve got beaches, theme parks, island activities, waterfalls, and adventure experiences all within driving distance, making it a really fun stop for families with older kids.
We stayed between Nha Trang and Cam Ranh for 4 nights and think this worked really well. Nha Trang itself is busier and better for restaurants, nightlife, and attractions, but we recommend you stay north of the beach, as central beach is very busy and we didn’t find it clean. Cam Ranh feels quieter, more relaxed, and resort-focused. If you want a slower family reset in Vietnam, Cam Ranh is one of the best places we visited. Another option is to stay at Vin Pearl if you are visiting just for the theme park. It has a resort on the island that looks great, and one day to see all the theme park activities and waterpark was not enough – you really want two days so staying on the island is a great option.

When to visit
The best time to visit Nha Trang and Cam Ranh is generally between January and August when rainfall is lower and beach conditions are better
How to get there
The easiest way for most families to reach Nha Trang is by flying into Cam Ranh International Airport, located around 40 minutes south of Nha Trang city. Flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are frequent and usually very affordable
How to get around
Grab works really well throughout Nha Trang and was the easiest way for us to move around the city with kids. For attractions outside the city like Ba Ho Waterfalls or Kong Forest, we’d recommend organised tours or private drivers rather than trying to navigate yourself. If you’re staying in Cam Ranh resorts, most are more isolated from restaurants and shops, so expect to use Grab or hotel transport if leaving the resort.

Best Things To Do in Nha Trang & Cam Ranh
Vin Wonders
VinWonders ended up being one of our kids’ favourite days in Vietnam, and honestly it’s far bigger than most parents realise before visiting. The theme park sits on Hon Tre Island off Nha Trang, and you reach it via one of the world’s longest over-water cable cars, which alone feels like an attraction for kids. You can also access the island by ferry if weather impacts the cable car.
Inside, there are roller coasters, alpine coasters, arcades, aquariums, animal areas, gardens, and a huge waterpark, which, honestly, becomes the best place to escape the afternoon heat. The waterpark has slides for older kids, splash zones for younger children, and wave pools, so definitely pack swimmers, towels, and spare clothes, because you’ll use them.
Adult tickets are roughly around 950,000 VND, with children’s tickets cheaper depending on height. We booked through Klook, and it’s best to buy tickets in advance. Feel free to use our
You can also stay directly on the island at Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang, which would honestly make the experience much easier if you want to spend multiple days at the park without rushing back to the mainland.
Kong Forest
One of the biggest highlights of our adventure near Nha Trang was Kong Forest, which we booked through GetYourGuide. which included ATV riding through the jungle and a multi-platform zipline course.
The experience felt incredibly well organised and very safe for families. You receive a full safety briefing before starting, and instructors stay with you throughout the activities.
The ATV ride takes you deep into the jungle along rivers, muddy tracks and forest trails, while the zipline course moves between platforms above the rainforest canopy. Hotel pickup and lunch were included, which honestly made the whole day far easier with kids. It seems, though, that if you pick only one activity, you’ll need to wait for the second activity class to finish for lunch, as both groups travel back to Nha Trang by bus together, which takes 1.5 hours.
We’d recommend this most for families with confident kids roughly aged 8+ who enjoy adventure activities.
Ba Ho Waterfalls
Ba Ho Waterfalls was one of our favourite nature experiences near Nha Trang, but it’s definitely more adventurous than most parents expect before arriving. The waterfalls are located about 40 minutes north of Nha Trang, and the easiest way to get there is by Grab, a private driver, or an organised tour. Entry is roughly 170,000 VND per adult, with kids cheaper. You can book through Klook , and use our discount code FOOTLOOSE10KLOOK for 10% off.
The walk to the first waterfall is manageable for most families and takes around 20-30 minutes, but it involves climbing over rocks, uneven paths and some slippery sections. The first swimming hole is the most family-friendly and, honestly, where most families with kids will want to stop. The second and third waterfalls become much steeper, harder and more challenging.
The freshwater pools are clean and refreshing, set amid jungle scenery, making for a really fun break from the beaches and city heat. One thing parents probably won’t realise is how slippery the rocks can be, especially when wet, so proper water shoes are essential. We’d also strongly recommend arriving early, before the heat and tour groups build through the middle of the day.
Hon Mun Island
Hon Mun Island is a great boat day trips from Nha Trang, especially if your kids love snorkelling, clear water and marine life. We booked our tour through GetYourGuide, which made the whole experience easier because they organised hotel pickup, boat transfers, snorkelling gear, and lunch.
The island is part of a protected marine park and is known for some of the clearest water around Nha Trang. The main activity here is snorkelling, and even our kids could easily spot colourful fish close to the surface without needing to swim far out.
Most tours leave from Nha Trang harbour in the morning and take around 20-30 minutes by speedboat, depending on conditions. Prices vary depending on the tour inclusions, but most family tours sit around 700,000-1,200,000 VND per person, including lunch and transfers.
Sea conditions can also change quickly, especially in the afternoon when the winds pick up, so if your kids struggle with motion sickness, it’s worth bringing tablets just in case.

Best Places to Stay in Nha Trang and Cam Ranh
One of our favourite stays in Vietnam was Alma Resort in Cam Ranh. After weeks of moving between busy cities and constant transport, this honestly felt like the reset point of our trip.
Alma is huge, spanning the coastline and featuring multiple swimming pools, kids’ activities, restaurants, a waterpark, mini golf, a cinema, a youth club, and direct beach access, all within the resort itself.
What we loved most as parents was that once you arrived, everything became easy again. You’re not constantly planning transport, searching for food or figuring out activities. The kids could swim, play and move around safely while we actually slowed down for the first time in weeks.
We stayed 2 nights and genuinely wished we stayed longer. For families travelling through Vietnam, Cam Ranh works incredibly well as a slower beach break between busier destinations. Check out our hotel guide on Alma Resort
